Nick Sills was thrilled to meet the inventor of the jet engine’s son

Nick Sills was thrilled to meet the inventor of the jet engine’s son Ian at Cranfield’s University’s “Festival of Flight”. Right to left Nick Sills, Ian Whittle and Roger Targett of Electroflight.

Nick had spent about 10 minutes extoling the benefits of the installing an electric CRPS in light aircraft to a visitor and was in the process of explaining what the retired chief engineer of Airbus had once said to him about the electric CRPS concept – “Nick have you any idea of the impact of electric propulsion on the design of future aircraft? -  it will be greater than the invention of the jet engine!” when the visitor said “I think I should introduce myself  – my name is Ian Whittle” – my father was Frank Whittle”! A lengthy discussion followed.
